Calvin Harris - Ready For The Weekend

I first heard this album whilst cruising down the motorway in the beaming sunshine, the CD player on full blast of course. As soon as the 80s beats and saxophones pumped through the speakers it was clear the album was made for a situation just like this one – sunny, carefree days.

The Album is full to the brim with anthemic tunes and extremely catchy riffs which will get you dancing. His lyrics are simple and repetitive which take moments to learn, another anthemic quality. Simple as they may be, those words will stay engraved in your mind for days after you’ve stopped listening.

Not all the songs are up tempo however, as a few slower tunes show a different side to the renowned raver. In fact the songs ‘Blue’ and ‘Worst Day’ even show off his emotional side, though they still manage to be in keeping with the catchy theme of the album. Highlights include ‘Flashback’ and ‘Stars Come Out’, as well as his extremely successful singles ‘I’m Not Alone’ and ‘Ready For The Weekend.’

This is a definite contender for the soundtrack to summer 2009. It will be amazing at festivals and in clubs around the UK too. The album title ‘Ready For The Weekend’ is very apt, as after listening to this album you will want nothing more than to finish work and party all night long.
